Vacation In Idaho Learn Its History While Savoring All It Has To Offer

Idaho is a beautiful northwestern state that is often overlooked as a target="_blank" travel destination. One of the best ways to enjoy its majestic wilderness can be found in whitewater rafting on one of its well-known rivers. The Snake River and the Salmon river are the two most famous rides - you'll be amazed at the canyons and alpine-like forests.

For outdoor enthusiasts Idaho offers great opportunities for climbing, skiing, hunting, and fishing. Sun Valley has to be one of the most incredible ski resorts in the Country. And you won't want to miss the Sawtooth Mountains, nor Coeur d'Alene in the northern part of the state with its lovely lake and accommodations.

Idaho's Salmon River, the longest free-flowing river in the United States floats through the largest wilderness in the the country, except for Alaska. A trip down the river usually takes about six days and includes historic ranches and homesteads, fishing, hot springs, and class III - IV rapids.

Idaho's capital city, Boise, offers big city amenities along with the rustic charm of a small town, and is typical of the character of the state. The natural beauty of Idaho attracts vacationers from all points of the globe with its spectacular landscapes, wildlife, and recreational opportunities.

Known for its excellent potato crop, Idaho is responsible for about a third of the nation's output. Most of the potatoes come from land adjacent to the Snake River.

Interestingly, the state stands about mid-way between Santa Claus and the Equator, facing the west side of the Rockies. Sunshine abounds, even in the winter months. Idaho is definitely a four-season state.

The past lives on in Idaho. Don't look for crowds and huge amusement parks, look instead at history, magnificent landscapes and wilderness, and just about every action vacation activity imaginable.

If you are a skier you'll discover every level in the spectacular mountains, and you can cross country over many miles of trails. When winter ends you can enjoy nearly endless outdoor activities among the mountains and wilderness, waterways and lakes, hot springs, and everything else Idaho has to offer.
